VAK Learning Styles ( Part - I )

Why is that when there is same school, same class, same teacher, same books yet few students easily grasps what the subject is while others struggle to get it understood????

Why few Childrens walk or roam with Books in their hands while reading??

Why is that few childrens try to rotate pen/pencil ??

Why is that few feel they understand easily when do it Practically??

Because the childrens we are talking above are the one who comes under KINESTHETIC LEARNERS.

Three are three different learning styles, they are:

1. Kinesthetic Learners.
2. Auditory Learners.
3. Visualistic Learners.

Kinesthetic Learners or Tactiles Learning is a learning style in which learning takes place by the students carrying out physical activities, rather than listening to a lecture or watching demonstrations. People with a preference for kinesthetics learning are also commonly known as "do-ers".

Kinesthetic intelligence which was originally coupled with tactile abilities, and was defined and discussed in Howard Gardner's Frames Of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences. In his book, Gardner describes activities (such as dancing and performing surgery) as requiring great kinesthetic intelligence: using the body to create (or do) something.
Margaret H'Doubler wrote and spoke about kinesthetic learning during the 1940s, defining kinesthetic learning as the human body's ability to express itself through movement and dance.

According to the theory of learning styles, students who have a predominantly kinesthetic style are thought to be discovery learners: they have realisation through doing, rather than thinking before initiating action. They may struggle to learn by reading or listening.
When learning, it helps for these students to move around; this increases the students' understanding, with learners generally getting better marks in exams when they can do so. Kinesthetic learners usually succeed in activities such as chemistry experiments, sporting activities, art and acting; It is common for kinesthetic learners to focus on two different things at the same time, remembering things in relation to what they were doing. They possess good eye–hand coordination. In kinesthetic learning, learning occurs by the learner using their body to express a thought, an idea or a concept (in any field).
In an elementary classroom setting, these students may stand out because of their need to move; their high energy levels may cause them to be agitated, restless or impatient. Kinesthetic learners' short- and long-term memories are strengthened by their use of movement.

Disc Profile and behaviour

DISC profile is the leading personal assessment tool used by over 1 million people every year to improve work productivity, teamwork and communication.

DiSC is a personal assessment tool used to improve work productivity, teamwork and communication. DiSC is non-judgmental and helps people discuss their behavioral differences. If you participate in a DiSC program, you'll be asked to complete a series of questions that produce a detailed report about your personality and behavior.

The DiSC model provides a common language that people can use to better understand themselves and to adapt their behaviors with others. This can be within a work team, a sales relationship, a leadership position, or other relationships

DiSC profiles help you and your team:
  • Increase your self-knowledge: how you respond to conflict, what motivates you, what causes you stress and how you solve problems
  • Facilitate better teamwork and minimize team conflict
  • Develop stronger sales skills by identifying and responding to customer styles
  • Manage more effectively by understanding the dispositions and priorities of employees and team members
  • Become more self-knowledgeable, well-rounded and effective leaders

What does DiSC stand for? What do the letters mean?

Good Move by Telangana Govt

This is  paper cutting news about the reforms Telangana Govt. looks to bring in to schooling. We MTL are looking to provide solutions in educational counseling sector by helping the people unleash their innate talent and sharpen their strong areas with a stress to look into the areas of their weakness.)

(paper news cut from Sakshi Newspaper Telugu Language)

So what does the news paper say?

1. The govt of Telangana will allot a cumulative Record Books for students of govt schools.
2. These books will have complied information about the students right from class I to class X.
3. The respective class teachers will have to maintain the records of the students.
4. These books must be passed on to the arriving new teacher by the relieving teacher.
5. These book will have information about the attendance, education, extracurricular activities and behaviour. etc
6. If a student changes school then this books must be handed over to the new school along with the T.C.
7. Special Care to desired candidates will be taken care of based on this report.
8. will start this from the present academic year.
9. parents meet on this topic will be held on 23 april.

So, the gist of this newspaper report is complied here. The question is why is this method necessary?  because education is important to each and every individual but few lag behind others because of the fact that each individual's learning style and intelligence is different from others. if one could find out whats the nature and learning style of a student then it is an easy task to educate him, turning education from hardship to enjoyment to students.

Mind Tree Labs does this in a very scientific and smarter way, we map the innate talent and brain behavior of students through biometric system of our technology.

If a child is not learning the way you are teaching, what should we do?

We always knew that no two human beings are alike. not just physically but mentally as well. since the time of ADAM and EVE to the last person to be born in this world  each of them will be unique.

Einstein was past, there were none like him in the past and will not be in future may be more smarter people than Einstein will be born but not exactly alike him. when people aren't alike physically, mentally then how could their learning styles be alike??

To address this secret of mind Dr Howard Gardner came up with the Theory of Multiple Intelligence. Multiple Intelligence Theory was developed in 1983 by Dr. Howard Gardner, professor of education at Harvard University. It suggests that traditional ways of testing for intelligence may be biased to certain types of individuals.

Dr. Howard Gardner   Prof. Harvard University

Harvard professor Howard Gardner has identified eight different types of intelligences that each individual has the capacity to possess. The idea of multiple intelligences is important because it allows for educators to identify differing strengths and weaknesses in students and also contradicts the idea that intelligence can be measured through IQ. In researching about genius, we found that Howard Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligences provides a great alternative to the popular measurable IQ method.
Summaries of eight intelligences:
  1. Visual/Spatial - Involves visual perception of the environment, the ability to create and manipulate mental images, and the orientation of the body in space.
  2. Verbal/Linguistic - Involves reading, writing, speaking, and conversing in one's own or foreign languages.
  3. Logical/Mathematical - Involves number and computing skills, recognizing patterns and relationships, timeliness and order, and the ability to solve different kinds of problems through logic.
  4. Bodily/Kinesthetic - Involves physical coordination and dexterity, using fine and gross motor skills, and expressing oneself or learning through physical activities.
  5. Musical - Involves understanding and expressing oneself through music and rhythmic movements or dance, or composing, playing, or conducting music.
  6. Interpersonal - Involves understanding how to communicate with and understand other people and how to work collaboratively.
  7. Intrapersonal - Involves understanding one's inner world of emotions and thoughts, and growing in the ability to control them and work with them consciously.
  8. Naturalist - Involves understanding the natural world of plants and animals, noticing their characteristics, and categorizing them; it generally involves keen observation and the ability to classify other things as well.

"Multiple intelligences is a psychological theory about the mind. It's a critique of the notion that there's a single intelligence which we're born with, which can't be changed, and which psychologists can measure. It's based on a lot of scientific research in fields ranging from psychology to anthropology to biology. It's not based upon based on test correlations, which most other intelligence theories are based on. The claim is that there are at least eight different human intelligences. Most intelligence tests look at language or logic or both - those are just two of the intelligences. The other six are musical, spatial, bodily/kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalist. I make two claims. The first claim is that all human beings have all of these intelligences. It's part of our species definition. The second claim is that, both because of our genetics and our environment, no two people have exactly the same profile of intelligences, not even identical twins, because their experiences are different."
